What Does the Genderqueer Flag Mean?
The genderqueer flag is composed of 3 colors in horizontal stripes: lavender, white & dark chartreuse green. These colors have often been defined as meaning:
Lavender: a mixture of pink and blue, traditional gender identifiers.
White: agender or gender-neutral.
Dark Green (Chartreuse): inverse of lavender, those that are outside of and without reference to the binary.
It is important to note that some people feel that the word “queer” is a bit of a slur and prefer the terms “genderfluid or non-binary”. Though some use them interchangeably some also identify separately.
